Hate Crimes

I usually try to keep my opinion to myself, because I do not like hurting others or getting in to arguments over things i believe in. Today I'm frustrated with humanity. In my social psych class we have an assignment to have a day of non- conformity. Since it seems to be the norm (in my eyes) to be liberal and pro everything, I'm choosing to go against that norm and stand up for what i believe in. But why do I not get cheers from my fellow men to do so? why dose everyone say "I'm so proud of you for standing up for what you believe in" when it has to do with attending a silent protest at temple square, and then when i stand up for what i believe in people start using words like "hater" and "anti-gay". when did i ever say i was anti-gay or that i hated homosexuals? I do not hate homosexuals, i do not hate the poor, i do not hate the mentally ill, or the elderly, or any other race, culture or religion. BUT I am a firm supporter of elder packers beautiful talk on cleansing the inner vessel, and i give him respect for having the strength to speak up about one of the hardest things today's society is facing, and stating that the church still (and will always) support the love between a man and a women. I listen to my prophets and i believe that they will never lead me astray. I also believe that in elder packers talk there was not one ant-gay or hate full words towards anyone for that matter. The gay population has blown his talk way out of proportion, they will take any chance they get to protest our believes and when they stand with signs that say "love" not "hate" it truly makes me sick. How can they stand there hating elder packer and the Church and then clam that they don't hate?
So from what i can see the gay community is upset with this one line of his talk
"Some suppose that they were preset and cannot overcome what they feel are inborn temptations toward the impure and unnatural. Not so! Remember, God is our Heavenly Father." I would like to explain this statement the best i can from what i believe personally. also i would like to add this statement that came from a protester at temple square "if god didn't make gays, there wouldn't be any" True, totally and completely true. but remember what elder packer said we can over come it. I would like to quote my favorite scipture verse Either 12 27: " and if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble: and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will i make weak things become strong unto them." God dose not give us any trial that we can not over come, with his help, because without him it will become almost impossible, because saintin will work to bring you come closer and closer to him.
I believe that god has given us all different personal weaknesses that we will be able to over come with his help. and i do believe that if a man or women has homosexual feelings, if they work with god they can learn to overcome them and be strong. So i do believe that they are born with homosexual feelings, but they were also born to be able to over come them. I know it may seem imposable to some but i do know its possible i know people that have turned to god and over come their home sexual feelings but it is a constant processes. Those that have been given the challenge to face homosexual feelings must be amazing strong spirits because i do not know if my spiritt is strong enough to over come such a great trial. So for all of those struggling or that have over come it, i am rutting for you and support you. may god bless you.
